Student Life
Academic Experience
We, the staff of Immaculate Conception School, believe that children are a gift from God. Therefore, we will ensure that all children learn the basic concepts of
the curriculum while integrating the Gospel values of our Catholic Faith.
Core Curriculum
Academic life at IC begins with its curriculum which follows Common Core and South Dakota state standards, in addition to Catholic Diocesan
standards. We focus on proficiency of reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies, and work closely with each student to meet
these expectations.
Music
Immaculate Conception School Music Department is made up of preschool through 6th grade general music. Preschool meets twice a week for 15 minutes and K-6th grade meets twice a week for 30 minutes of hands-on interaction that brings music to life. There is also 5th grade and 6th grade band and orchestra that meets on Fridays after Mass.
In the summer, our Summer Singers Choir meets on Mondays and Wednesdays. Summer Singers is a great opportunity to continue music education at an up-tempo rate, enhance their social skills with others, perform for the community, and a wonderful way to continue singing.
Spanish Enhancement
Kindergarten through sixth grade has Spanish class twice a week. Our Preschool Plus students are also taught Spanish throughout the year.
Immaculate Conception School is one of the only elementary schools in the state of South Dakota with a Spanish program.
